Just a few passes before and after using should do the trick. Recommend handwashing and storing in its packaging box or in a wooden knife-block. Well worth the money. Best knife I have even owned, to-date. In fact, I was so impressed by the quality of this one knife that I bought a whole set of kitchen knives from Cutluxe, with the knife-block and sharpener.
